Anthony Jimenez is a second generation Latinx Artist, muralist, and educator, residing in San Francisco CA. Growing up in the Bay Area, cultural diversity influenced his ideology. Inspired to get an art degree when witnessing the power of visual imagery, Jimenez studied how art could be used reciprocally with the community to change our public spaces for the better.
After moving to San Francisco, Jimenez found mentors in the vibrant arts & culture community of the Mission District where he shares the same mission as his peers — to influence public discourse for the greater good through the Arts, and to celebrate our heritage and roots so that we may empower others like us.
Jimenez holds a B.A. in Visual and Public Art from CSU Monterey Bay and has been a grantee from the San Francisco Arts Commission for work celebrating people through portraiture that have made an impact on his life. He participated as an artist in residence, funded by SFAC at Medicine for Nightmares, and is currently teaching Mural Arts at the Youth Art Exchange.
Through The ReGen Artist Fund, Jimenez will co-create mixed media paintings with members of the community in a project titled “Honor The Path Makers”. Through workshops, Jimenez will guide participants to co-create portraits of people who have had an impact in their lives and have added value to our community through their contributions. This project celebrates the diverse makeup of the Mission and empowers the community through artmaking and storytelling.
