Galería de la Raza is excited to co-present a performance by San Antonio based, Los Nahuatlatos, featuring Houston’s own Nick Gaitan, at Galería’s Studio 24!
Tejas Roots meets Conjunto Blues in this musical journey through the soundscapes of the Texas frontera and Gulf Coast. A creative partnership over 10 years in the making, each of the four members front their own musical projects covering everything from Cumbias to Swamp Pop, Rhythm & Blues to Xicano Souls, and all stops in between.
Having toured throughout the country and recently returned from the American Folk Life Center at the National Library of Congress, Nick Gaitan, Nicolás Valdez, Joaquin Muerte and Luis Gonzalez, encapsulate a large spectrum of the Xicano diaspora with original songs, accordion driven grooves, and inspiring lyricism. This is dancing music for the Movimiento, so pónte trucha, Raza, and bust out them botas and calcos!
