Michael Arcega
Michael Arcega is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily in sculpture and installations. His art, though visual, revolves largely around language. He utilizes comedic strategies and tactics to express darker global issues. He received his BFA in Interdisciplinary studies at the San Francisco Art Institute and his MFA at Stanford University. Michael resides in San Francisco, CA.
His work has been seen in group and/or solo shows in San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, San Diego, Detroit, New York, Hawaii; Seatle, Lisbon, Portugal; Malmo, Sweden; Paris, France; and Manila, Philippines. Arcega has enjoyed residencies at the Fine Art Museum's De Young Art Center in San Francisco, Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito, and the 18th St. Art Center in Santa Monica (summer 2008). He is looking forward to a project-based residency at The Contemporary Museum in Honolulu (2009). Michael is represented by Marx & Zavattero in San Francisco and Nicelle Beauchene in New York. | |
