Gerardo Pérez
Gerardo Pérez was born in Mexico and lives in San Francisco. He received his BA at the University of California, Riverside with a degree in Counseling Psychology and a minor in religions of Asia. He first started making art after having moved to San Francisco to work with the homeless community. He did not consider himself an artist so much as a community worker and activist. He works in a variety of media, including painting, photography, film and video, sculpture, and performance art. He has had several solo exhibitions in the Bay Area as well as group exhibitions and street performances. Many of these exhibitions and performances have originated as part of the Galería de la Raza's ReGeneration. His work has been included and referenced in several important publications including Art Week Magazine, SF Bay Guardian, SF Chronicle and the SF Examiner, the SF Weekly, the book “Hollow City”, and a new publication house Verso. He has worked on two public access television shows and has been in several short films.
