John Jota Leaños is an artist and cultural worker born and raised in Southern California (Pomona, 1969). Leaños received his MFA in Photography from San Francisco State University in 2000. His artwork has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art’s 2002 Whitney Biennial, Art in General in New York City (2003), The Heard Museum (2003), San Francisco Art Commission Gallery (2001) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2001). In 2002-03, Leaños was in residence at Carnegie Mellon University on a Fellowship with Center for the Arts in Society.
