SUMMARY:Lunada New Moon Fest 2026
DESCRIPTION:For the past 25 years\, Lunada Literary Lounge has gathered on the full moon to honor spoken word\, poetry\, musica\, and literatura. On its silver anniversary\, Galería will instead gather under the new moon\, holding three seasonal gatherings on April 17\, June 14\, and October 10\, 2026.  \n\n\n\nAlthough shrouded in darkness\, the new moon signifies new beginnings\, limitless possibilities\, and rejuvenation.This lunar phase allows us to set intentions with a blank slate\, and give ourselves and our community moments to re-energize with art and the words of our community during destabilization and high anxiety.  \n\n\n\nThe ritual of gathering transforms to fulfill what we as a community need to thrive. As we lead up to each seasonal gathering\, poets will join us along the way providing offerings of their work in digital format. Join Galería de la Raza on Wednesday\, November 5 at Studio 24 for the third installment of Lunada Literary Lounge this season! She once shared a stage with Rita Moreno in The Vagina Monologues\, and is a founding member of the Culture Clash as well as a Brava Theater artist-in-residence.  \n\n\n\nMarga was bron and raised in New York City to a Cuban comedian and a Puerto Rican dancer who inspired many of her stories. As an openly Queer stand up comedian Marga plays colleges\, clubs\, cruise ships and protests. The late Robin Williams called her “Amazing! A lesbian Lenny Bruce”. Find Marga online at www.margagomez.com and www.instagram.com/themargagomez. \n\n\n\n\n\nMarisol Medina-Cadena\, is a fourth generation Californian; Bay Area on her mom’s side and LA County on her pop’s side. She is a San Francisco based comedian by way of the dirty D\, aka Pasadena\, California. She’s an award winning radio journalist and received an Emmy for her work on the documentary\, City Rising. But don’t ask her about that. She’s more interested in finding the humor in the mundane\, poking fun at Chicanismo and joking about the late absurdity of local politics. In 2025\, she hosted ‘El Late Show with Marisol’ an old school late night talk show before a live audience to share chime and radical history about San Pancho. As a proud member of (PBS) the Pocho Broadcast Service\, she takes her duty very seriously to make audiences he-he and ha-ha.
