SUMMARY:Lunada New Moon Fest 2026
DESCRIPTION:For the past 25 years\, Lunada Literary Lounge has gathered on the full moon to honor spoken word\, poetry\, musica\, and literatura. On its silver anniversary\, Galería will instead gather under the new moon\, holding three seasonal gatherings on April 17\, June 14\, and October 10\, 2026.  \n\n\n\nAlthough shrouded in darkness\, the new moon signifies new beginnings\, limitless possibilities\, and rejuvenation. This lunar phase allows us to set intentions with a blank slate\, and give ourselves and our community moments to re-energize with art and the words of our community during destabilization and high anxiety.  \n\n\n\nEmbrace the new moon. Celebrate creativity. Connect with community. \n\n\n\nThis season we will feature twice the features\, music\, vendors and a stacked open mic.  The 2026 season kick off is on Friday\, April 17th.  Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the remainder of the fest happening Sunday\, June 14th and Saturday\, October 10th.  \n\n\n\nOpen mic sign ups for April 17 are starting now\, visit the link below to claim a spot in the line up. \n\n\n\n\nCLICK HERE TO SIGN UP\n\n\n\n\nFree admission. \n\n\n\n\nAbout the Features \n\n\n\nAndrea Cruz—a.k.a. Diabbla—was born in Chicago\, Illinois\, and possesses deep Mexican roots. She is a multifaceted artist who brings a fresh\, new versatility to the music scene. She inherited her singing talent from her family at a young age and as she grew and honed her vocal skills\, she began to branch out into the world of rap at age 15.  \n\n\n\nSteeped in the “old school” traditions of the genre\, Diabbla draws inspiration from artists such as Cypress Hill\, Control Machete\, Akwid\, West Coast legends\, Molotov\, and many others. Over the years\, she has seamlessly blended rapping with singing\, incorporating elements of R&B\, Jazz\, Boom Bap\, Trap\, Drill\, and more.  \n\n\n\nDiabbla is currently based in San Francisco\, California area where she continues to expand her reach across new horizons\, firmly believing that no border can ever contain her sound or her name. She promises to be an artist who offers far more than just a particular image; her true desire is to leave a lasting legacy through her compositions\, ensuring that listeners can truly feel and connect with every single bar she delivers from her own personal life. \n\n\n\n\n\nKarina Gamez is an emerging writer\, born to Salvadoran immigrants and raised in the Bay Area\, CA. She is a recent graduate of New York University\, where her academic and literary work has been grounded in El Salvador\, exploring themes of state violence\, historical memory\, war\, exile\, migration\, caretaking\, illness\, and love. Her writing has appeared in rhizomag\, Confluence\, among other publications. She is also an organizer with the Bay Area chapter of the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador (CISPES).
