DESCRIPTION:Galería de la Raza invites you to attend the presentation of “Por La Raza” \, a show created and produced by La Doña as part of the ReGen Artist Fund. \n\n\n\nPor la Raza is a musical project based in placekeeping\, composition\, mentorship\, and public performance. Born from La Doña’s educational work with youth in San Francisco’s Mission and Bayview districts\, Por la Raza combines interviews\, composition\, mentorship and public performance to identify shared experience and community truths while uplifting young artists of color in their own creative journeys. Generating musical compositions\, recordings\, music direction\, and professional-level presentation\, Por la Raza exemplifies what is possible through multi-generational support and interest at different levels of career. \n\n\n\nFunded by Galería de la Raza’s ReGen Artist Fund and produced by La Doña\, Por la Raza culminates in a free\, all-ages\, one-day festival featuring San Francisco’s emerging talents Mamboleo\, Grupo 415\, Amanda Magaña and La Doña. \n\n\n\nJoin us in the heart of the Mission at Grey Area on Saturday\, May 3rd to witness three generations of Frisco musicians share their music\, originality\, and cultural legacy. \n\n\n\nThis will be a FREE\, ALL AGES show. We’re excited to welcome back artist and performer Praba Pilar to the Galería stage where she will be presenting her new performance on “Artifecal Intelligence”\, Inteligencias Artifecales. Don’t miss this special performance and commentary on our current techno-political world. Hosting is the one and only Norman Zelaya with music by DJ Si.Mon.Güey. \n\n\n\nAbout the Featured ArtistPraba Pilar is a queer diasporic Colombian artist creating interdisciplinary projects that disrupt the cult of the techno-logic. Most recently\, she’s been working internationally on subversive\, playful\, and simultaneously serious ways with AI systems to nixtamalize the technology sector\, creating algorithms\, code\, images\, and songs that challenge data extraction techno-colonialism and offer algorithms of liberation. Her performances and digital artworks have been presented in museums\, galleries\, universities\, festivals and streets around the world.
