Available Volunteer Opportunities, August 2013

Volunteers play a vital role in the heart and soul of our programs, and generous individuals in our communities and beyond - like you - who assist in Galería’s ongoing calendar of events, gallery production, and administrative assistance make a world of difference.

By joining us as a volunteer, you get to experience the organization from both a free and exciting behind-the-scenes viewpoint, as well as interact with a community of arts appreciators!

If you are interested in volunteering at Galería, please email volunteer@galeriadelaraza.org with what opportunity interests you, subject line “I want to volunteer at ____________” (name of opportunity). Volunteers receive an orientation and walk-through of all gallery venues on their first day of volunteering.

ONGOING:

Gallery Attendant Program

August 1-31, 2013

Volunteer shift: 12pm-6pm

What: programmic support in main gallery and Studio 24 (Galería’s annex venue)

Details: Gallery attendants are crucial to the mechanics of running Galería, and being a gallery attendant is not only a learning experience, item to include on a resume, and intricate look into how Galería operates - but it is also fun! It is a chance to interact with a high volume of people on a daily basis, learn and implement the sale of artwork, and assist in the public programming details of presenting events at a non-profit arts space.

Gallery attendants are in the main gallery space Tuesday through Saturday, 12pm-6pm. We are looking for attendants for any day Tuesday through Saturday for a full six-hour commitment.

Need: 1 volunteer per day

EVENTS:

Friday, August 23

Volunteer shift: 6:30pm-10:30pm

Event: Pocho Adventure Club game night

Details: Galería will be hosting a game night in conjunction with our Studio 24 Presents program. The game night will feature original board games designed by Pocho Adventure Club artist Rio Yañez, including Cholas vs. Dinosaurs, in which cholas use their Aquanet saves to sidestep deadly dinosaur encounters. The night will also feature the debut of two new board games designed by the artist (read more about the exhibition here). Assistance in event production and artwork sales will be needed, as well as hospitality, photographing attendees, and general maintenance.

Need: 2-3 volunteers

Please note that Galería is committed to the flexibility and needs of our volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, but are only able to do part of a shift, we can work with you depending on the day. Email today!
