City Studio 2013 enrollment now open

In partnership with the San Francisco Art Institute, Galería is proud to present this semester’s free Youth Media Project class entitled “Youth Graphic Media Design Lab,” a workshop class designed for youth and teens to learn graphic design elements and trades. Students will employ both analog media (such as drawing with pencil and paper) with digital media, using up-to-date tools like graphics hardware and software. Drawing, painting, layout, typography, scanning, and photography are only some of the projects for the semester, and students will receive a bonus goodie at the end of the class for their participation.

Classes start Tuesday, January 29 and continue through mid-May. Students of all skills and levels welcome. Enrollment is open through February 12! Email Erik Wilson, instructor, to enroll and for any question.

The Youth Media Project (YMP) is an experiential arts education program engaging youth in the creation of art and in the examination of their immediate communities’ social, cultural and political life. Since 2002, the Galería has been operating the YMP in partnership with the San Francisco Arts Institute (SFAI) and Mission District-based high schools. Its primary objective is on training Latino youth in digital media in order to help them bridge the persistent "digital divide" and provide them with tools they can later develop professionally.
