Volunteers play a vital role in the heart and soul of our programs, and generous individuals in our communities and beyond - like you - who assist in Galería’s ongoing calendar of events, gallery production, and administrative assistance make a world of difference.
By joining us as a volunteer, you get to experience the organization from both a free and exciting behind-the-scenes viewpoint, as well as interact with a community of arts appreciators!
If you are interested in volunteering at Galería, please email volunteer@galeriadelaraza.org with what opportunity interests you, subject line “I want to volunteer at ____________” (name of opportunity). Volunteers receive an orientation and walk-through of all gallery venues on their first day of volunteering.

ONGOING:
Gallery Attendant Program
February 1-28, 2013
Volunteer shift: 1pm-6pm, with particular need on Thursdays and Fridays
What: programmic support in main gallery and Studio 24 (Galeria's annex venue)
Details: Gallery attendants are crucial to the mechanics of running Galeria, and being a gallery attendant is not only a learning experience, item to include on a resume, and intricate look into how Galería operates - but it is also fun! It is a chance to interact with a high volume of people on a daily basis, learn and implement the sale of artwork, and assist in the public programming details of presenting events at a non-profit arts space. Gallery attendants are in the main gallery space Tuesday through Saturday, 1pm-6pm.
Need: 1-2 volunteers per day
EVENTS:
Saturday, February 2
Volunteer shift: 3:30pm-9:30pm
Event: Grammy nomination party and live performance
Details: Galería is presenting a Grammy nomination and send off party for Round Whirled Records, featuring a cocktail reception and live performance, in conjunction with the Mission Arts and Performance Project (MAPP). Assistance in event production will be needed in the hospitality and tabling areas during this event, as well as photographing attendees.
Need: 2-3 volunteers
Saturday, February 16
Volunteer shift: 6:30pm-11:30pm
Event: Los Cojolites performing live + fandango
Details: Galería is presenting Los Cojolites live, who are nominated for Best Regional Mexican Music Album, including Tejano, at the 2013 Grammys! The band will be doing a live concert, and a fandango will follow afterwards for folks who would like to participate. Assistance is needed in event production for the concert, including box office duties, ticket sales, hospitality and tabling areas, and seating/ushering, and assistance is also needed for the fandango portion of the evening including furniture rearrangement, photographing attendees, and box office.
Need: 3-5 volunteers
Saturday, February 23
Volunteer shift: 5pm-10pm
Event: Mic The Robot live
Details: Galería is presenting Mic The Robot performing live, who are touring a West Coast string of dates from NYC. The band will be doing a live concert, and there will be refreshments available for purchase. Assistance is needed in event production for the concert, including managing donations, hospitality and tabling areas, photographing attendees, and box office.
Need: 2-3 volunteers
Monday, February 25
Volunteer shift: 6pm-10:30pm
Event: Lunada Season Opener
Details: Galería's monthly literary series event features both neighborhood and international talent of live poets, performers, musicians, and more. Event production including venue set-up, photo documention, A/V support, hospitality, and box office hosting is especially needed. No experience required - and you'll have the best seat in the house to watch the show too!
Need: 2-3 volunteers
