CURATORIAL STATEMENT Galería’s new billboard project is the result of a collaboration between Galería de la Raza and the Creative Growth Art Center (CGAC) and extends the CGAC’s media campaign in public spaces such as in BART trains, the Rockridge, Oakland City Center, Montgomery and Powell BART stations. Raising the question “Who is an outsider?” in the context of a culturally specific venue like the Galería Bryant St. billboard adds a new layer of provocation to the work created by artists with disabilities.
