Lawrence Colación
Graphic artist and printmaker, Lawrence Colación was born in Compton, California. Using bold, flat color, and an aesthetic inspired by political icons, Latino pop and street culture, Colación describes his work as “Post Pop Chicano Punk Art.” His prints are in the permanent collections of the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts, San Francisco, CA; Self-Help Graphics, Los Angeles; and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA. In 1996, he co-founded the alternative art space Balazo/Mission Badlands Gallery along with Txutxo Pérez. | |
