About Galeria's Internship Opportunities

Galería de la Raza offers internship opportunities for high school, college and graduate students interested in careers in the arts, non-profits or community based organizations.

Based upon their academic training and interests, as well as the availability of projects, interns work collaboratively with our team in one or more of the Galería's departments — curatorial, public relations, development, public programs, on-the-go projects or our Digital Mural Project billboard.Applicants of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

ADMINISTRATION  INTERNSHIP

Galería de la Raza has an immediate opening for a talented and motivated administrative intern. The intern will work closely with the Galería team on a variety of projects including, but not limited to:

 

* Provide administrative support for the exhibitions in the main gallery, and on-the-go programs.

* Provide administrative support to the Executive Director for a variety of projects.

* Maintaining a working office space- e.g. ordering supplies when needed, running relevant errands, and providing support with grant documents.

* Overseeing ongoing maintenance of exhibition spaces and office space.

* Fielding any questions from the public about exhibitions and hosting any tours (in conjunction with other staff & curatorial interns).

* Assisting with the setup and day of support of public programs and events.

* Assisting with maintaining the website.

* Gallery sitting when needed.

 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

- Solid writing skills, with a capability to work under tight turnaround

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Platforms and Photoshop

- Ability to work unsupervised and follow through on long-term projects

- Working knowledge in Photoshop, video or audio editing program a plus

- Past experience in arts administration experience prefered

- Dynamic worker with ability to pivot between projects with ease

 

TIME COMMITMENT & COMPENSATION

10-15 hours per week, flexible on days committed. This position is unpaid, but available for school credit. At least one day per week spent in-gallery.

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS & SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP

Galería de la Raza has an immediate opening for a multi-tasking, superstar Social Media and Communications Intern. The intern will work closely with Galería staff to create images, blurbs, and posts about ongoing projects, our community, etc. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Lead, as well as work collaboratively in creating content about Galería’s programs.

* Ongoing documentation of exhibitions, installation, programs, etc.

* Manage Galería’s social media and communications channels.

* Assisting with maintaining of website.

* Fielding any questions from the public about exhibitions and programs.

* Provide administrative support for exhibitions, partnerships, and co-presentations.

* Provide support in planning and executing community events.

* Archive past and ongoing programs and exhibitions.

* Lead formatting of newsletter with support from team.

 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

- Past experience in communications and social media management a plus

- Flexibility in working some nights and weekends

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Illustrator and Photoshop

- Solid writing skills, with a capability to work under tight turnaround

- Familiarity with online communications platforms

- Being highly organized and attentive to detail is mandatory for this position
