Galerķa de la Raza's Permanent Home Groundbreaking Celebration

Casa Adelante-1990 Folsom

Friday, May 10, 2019 | 4:00 pm

Join Galería de la Raza and the local community for the groundbreaking of Casa Adelante - 1990 Folsom, a nine-story building located at 1990 Folsom Street that will provide 143 permanently affordable apartments for low-income households, plus arts, nonprofit, and early care and education and space. The Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) and Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC) are partners in this development.

We are thankful to MEDA and TNDC for undertaking this project and for sustaining our communities' legacies. To root and build the community and the future residents of Casa Adelante - 1990 Folsom, the ground floor will house Mission-based arts/cultural organizations like Galería de la Raza and HOMEY. Plus early care and education services by Felton Institute.

"As cultural bearers it is our duty to protect our traditions, rituals, sites, and to honor the social fabric and people that have contributed to the art & social movements of the Mission District. The Casa Adelante - 1990 Folsom project is located within a blueprint of growth. It is a unique opportunity, where joint investment between the City of San Francisco, community developers and ground-floor users can successfully realize this one-of-a-kind historic placekeeping venture. For Galería it is a 'renacimiento' that offers us a permanent home where we will have the ability to build our assets and sustain over seven generations to come."- Ani Rivera, Galería de la Raza Executive Director

Please spread the word and join us for this momentous celebration. The site is under construction and is earmarked to be completed in 2020 with an expected move-in date of Q1 2021. Until then, visit Galería at 1470 Valencia Street. Soon Galería will announce its formal capital campaign where you can join and support us in this endeavor.
