Latin Standards - an excerpt from Marga Gomez’s work in progress about fathers, entertainment, wealth, poverty and cafe cubano. Marga reenacts the triumphs and demons of her father, Willy Chevalier, comedian, producer, songwriter, Cafe El Pico spokesperson, and a prominent figure in the golden era of New York’s Latino culture while illuminating his impact on her life as a queer Latina performing artist. In April 2016 Latin Standards will be presented at the studio at Brava Theater, San Francisco and Hayward’s “One For All Festival.” Latin Standards will be Marga’s twelfth solo show.
